Julia has said “Da-da” a couple of times in my presence and it feels great to hear it, but it hasn’t been consistent enough for me to be 100% sure that she knows what it means. Same thing with ‘Ma-ma” although she says this more often.
“Baby” is her favorite word to try to pronounce. There’s usually a long pause between the two syllabols and neither is usually pronounced perfectly, but she apparently said it clearly once (I wasn’t there though). She also tries to say “bib” and “blue”. B-words are her forte.
Her walking is getting better. When she started her assisted walking (holding her assistant’s hands), she would step, but she would need help from her assistant on the weight-shift part of it. Now, she just needs the assistant for balance. She can do the moving forward all on her own. And she can move pretty quickly around the house. She loves to walk and we always tire out before she does.
She’s starting to display a little bit of seperation anxiety whenever Mommy or Daddy leave the room. If she’s playing upstairs and Mommy goes downstairs, she’ll crawl towards the stairs to follow.
Sleeping is still an issue. She regularly wakes up between 4 and 4:30 and will not accept being put back in her crib. The only way to keep her asleep after that is to let her sleep on top of you in bed.
Tomorrow she’ll be ten months old. It’s amazing how much she has grown and developed. About once a week, I’ll come home, spend time with her and remark how much she is more like a little girl than a baby.
Picture update coming soon. The long weekend should allow me to catch up.
