Julia was making some new sounds this morning. They were more “Ooohhhhs” than “Aaaahhhs”, which is pretty much what she has been limited so far when it comes to talking. She was in her abuela’s lap, sitting next to me on the couch, and she looked like she was really trying to talk. Sometimes she was successful, and sometimes she wasn’t, but you could really see the effort in her facial expressions. Very cute.

I think she will end up walking before she crawls. She doesn’t like being on her stomach much, and she really doesn’t seem to have much arm strength (especially the left) to support herself and to rollover. However, her legs are very strong, and she seems to understand the concept of walking. If you hold her body up and carry her along, she knows to pick up her feet and put them down in a walking motion. So we will see which comes first…

This morning, Melissa woke up around 5:00 am and was a little surprised that Julia had not woken her up earlier. She walked into Julia’s room to find her asleep on her stomach. Lately, she had be rolling onto her side, but this was the first time she went all the way over. She is not yet strong enough to roll back from her stomach to her back, so we need to give her more practice “tummy time.”

I used to think Bob Hurley was a jerk, and rooted against his basketball dynasty. Reading the book has really opened up my eyes to all that he and the school has done for the kids of Jersey City.

Just finished reading:
The Jump - Great read for basketball fans. A lot of inside info on scouting, shoe contracts, high-school ball, college ball, and the pros.

Currently listening to:
1. The Emancipation of Mimi - Mariah Carey - Pretty solid. 14 songs, none all that bad, and 7 that I really like a lot.
2. Ray! Soundtrack - Ray Charles - “(Night Time Is) The Right Time” (Cosby throwback) gets me going every time and “Hard Times” is a powerful track.

Currently Watching:
1. Lost - Missed the original airings, but caught the rerun of the pilot on Wednesday. Pretty good. TiVo season pass is set.
2. Chappelle’s Show - Never watched it before, but borrowed the Season 1 DVD from a co-worker. First episode was pretty damn funny. Will be watching more this weekend.

Currently Surfing:
1. Anything and everything about the NBA Draft.
2. I’m hooked on New York photoblogs: Overshadowed, joe’s nyc, Express Train, rion.nu, Magnetomotive, and many more. Makes me want to walk around the city all day taking shots. The camera stays home with the adorable baby girl most of the time, but I need to take it with me once a week or so to satisfy my yearning to shoot!

Currently wishing for:
1. Real World Digital Photography - I think I can frame a shot pretty well, but I need to know more about lighting, exposure, etc.
2. Fade to Black DVD - Throw ya diamonds up!
3. New York DVD Set - New York history fascinates me.
